Well, today was the day. The first day of a new stage in the Mueller home. Both girls are attending school full time this year! They were so excited to meet their teachers and settle in their classrooms. After I got them all settled in, returned to the school with their lunches and headed home, I was filled with mixed emotions. On the one hand, I am excited to see what this year brings. I’m excited to walk with our children as they learn, explore and push themselves to be the best they can be. On the other hand, I am remembering their smallness, their tenderness and our responsibility to protect them and guide them. As I leave them in the capable hands of their teachers during the day, I will not stop my job as their mommy to love, guide and embrace my little ones. Today is a tricky day but I will be thankful.

Smiles returned.

Hugs shared.

Smallness remembered.

Teachers introduced.

Lunches forgotten.

Waves goodbye.

Tears cried.

Thankfulness blogged.

In honor of the girls finally getting paid their allowances, we took a trip to Toys R Us. The girls’ were looking for a toy they saw in the flyer earlier in the week. A Barbie on a Vespa. Cute, I thought. So, they each bought one and brought them home and after showing them off to Grammy, pulled them out of the box. They had them riding on the scooters for a few minutes and then Victoria came running upstairs to show me what she discovered. This is what she discovered: If you put the riding helmet under the Barbie’s shirt…

The race is on Tuesday but we had to have the cars at the church yesterday to be weighed, judged and ready for the race. We are excited to see how they do. They definitely look great and I’m impressed with how much effort they all put into the vehicles. Great job!

So today was supposed to be a super busy day. This morning was ladies bible study but first we had to go pick up some juice for snack day. So off to Safeway (with a quick stop at Starbucks of course) and then home to pick up the forgotten mittens and school bag. Then off to the church for a great study and snuggling with the newest addition, Titus. Then to McD’s for a quick bite to eat before heading over to the school for running club meeting. I dropped K off at kindergarten and went to the gym. I had been feeling a little dizzy all morning so after the meeting of much shouting and movies and loud music, I took two advil. Then I headed over to K’s classroom to help out. I took down a bulletin board and filed some stuff. By then, I was feeling weird and I suspected a migraine was coming on so I excused myself and came home to rest. I arranged for Karl to pick up the girls and laid down for a nap after taking a couple more Advil. I rested for a couple of hours and by the time the girls got home, I was better. So, now the busy day continues, but I am grateful for the few moments of rest. Now, to make some chili for our dinner guests and get ready to host small group tonight. I guess photo editing and retreat planning will have to wait…

Need some hope? Here it is. You are still breathing. If you are still breathing, you are still living on earth. If you are still here, your mission on earth has yet to be completed. Your mission, the greatest thing in your life is still to come. If the greatest, most important, the thing that you will be remembered for is still to come. The most exciting, challenging and impactful time of your life is still ahead of you. How’s that for something to be hopeful for? Are you still breathing?

We are currently studying the book What happens when women walk in faith. There have been many aha moments for me in this book and I just came across another one this morning during my reading.

We don’t like hard places. Our souls long for the perfection of the Garden of Eden that we were designed for, and yet the world we live in bounces us from one imperfection to the next. Soon we find ourselves empty and exhausted, trying to fix problems that interrupt and inflict pain and heartbreak. We even become frustrated with God. We know He could fix this problem. With one snap of His holy hand, He could heal the hurts, rearrange the circumstances, restore our broken places, and provide a way out. So why doesn’t He?

The answer is that He loves us too much to leave us the way we are…we must continue to grow and embrace God’s plans for the life we’ve been given. We don’t grow by changing the adverse circumstances. We grow by embracing Gods plans for the circumstances and allowing Him to have His full way in us.
